On the anniversary of the passing of Reginald Denny, the father of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Monash University's Aerobotics© group and several other local aeromodellers, held a special "Salute to Reginald Denny" at Yarra Glen, Victoria, Australia on Sunday, June 15, 2003

Prof. John Bird notes : On the day of the "salute" Bill, whilst taxiing for takeoff (above) broke a thrust washer in the motor. With no replacements at hand, he was 'down for the count' despite an hour 'in the pits' trying to solve the problem (see following images).

Yesterday however (Thursday 19th) he borrowed a thrust washer from a friend and made a delayed tribute flight in 'salute' to Reginal Denny reporting that his 'Dennyplane Special' MG-166, flew beautifully, complete with celebratory loops and rolls.

The following shots (page 5 in this series) show Bill and Doug Anderson trying to solve the problem the broken thrust washer :-(
