The Centre for Telecommunications and Information Engineering (Ctie) is recognised as a centre of excellence in telecommunications research, technical consulting and education.
It is an innovative group of highly proficient telecommunications engineers based at Monash University's Clayton campus.
The group carries out leading edge research, works collaboratively with and consults for cultural institutions, organisations in health, the environment, government and key industry sectors, and provides professional training courses.
Ctie is one of four centres in the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering. Its activities are balanced between fundamental research, contract research, consulting, and professional training courses, and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision.
Ctie is comprised of two research groups and a number of related Development projects, and has been involved in the Cooperative Research Centre effort since 1993, currently managing one of four programs at the Australian Telecommunications Cooperative Research Centre.
It is also a partner of the Distributed Systems Technology Cooperative Research Centre.
Ctie maintains an extensive vendor independent telecommunications network testbed for its research efforts.
