Eugène Lefebvre (1878 - 1909)
Eugène Lefebvre, pionnier de l'aviation et né à Corbie le 4 octobre 1878, se tua à Juvisy au cours d'un essai, le 7 septembre 1909 à 6h45 du soir. "September 7, 1909 - Eugene Lefebvre dies while testing a new French-built Wright airplane. He is the first pilot to die at the controls of his craft." Son nom sera donné à un Collège de Corbie après la deuxième guerre mondiale
Le Wright-Ariel de Lefebvre sur lequel il se tua à Juvisy au cours d'un essai, le 7 septembre 1909 à 6h45 du soir. Il volait à 70 km/h à 6 mètres de hauteur.

When the weather broke late on the soggy opening day. the pilots organized a flyby of seven aircraft, at the time, the most machines ever in the air at once. But it was Lefebvre who stunned the crowd with "a series of daring evolutions before the grandstand, almost touching the banners on the roof," the Times reported.
