The Centre for Telecommunications and Information Engineering is a research and development Centre based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

About the Conference

The Clayton area of Melbourne supports a wide range of telecommunications research. Two of the largest organizations are Monash University and Telstra Research Laboratories. The Center for Telecommunications and Information Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University is sponsoring an informal conference on 27/28 Jan 98 to encourage stronger collaboration between researchers in close proximity.

The format of the conference is for each academic staff member at Monash University engaged in telecommunications research and their postgraduate students to briefly present their topic of research. It is not intended to go into full technical detail on each topic. A weekly seminar series at Monash provides a forum for individuals to go into full detail.

Key representatives from Telstra Research Labs have been invited to present an overview of some of their current activities. There will also be some presentations on some externally funded development projects within CTIE. The aim is for individuals to get together during the conference tea and lunch breaks to discuss potential collaboration and share ideas.
